Helping patients recover from arthritis, trauma, and complex lower limb conditions through advanced hip and knee replacements—including robotic-assisted surgery and precision OPS technology
Services
‘I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Trust, specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty. I provide evidence-based care for patients with arthritis, joint pain, trauma, and complex lower limb conditions, with a focus on restoring mobility and improving quality of life.
My training included the renowned Oswestry and Stoke rotation, followed by advanced hip and knee fellowships in Melbourne and Bristol. I have specialist expertise in primary and revision joint replacement surgery, including robotic-assisted knee surgery and the use of OPS (Optimised Positioning System) technology to enhance accuracy in hip replacements. I also specialise in knee arthroscopies and hip and knee injections, Arthrosamid injections for hips and knees.

Knee
I specialise in both primary and revision joint replacement surgery, with particular expertise in robotic-assisted knee surgery. This advanced technique allows for greater precision when aligning and balancing the joint, which can improve function and outcomes for patients. By combining surgical skill with cutting-edge technology, robotic assistance helps tailor each knee replacement to the individual’s anatomy, supporting smoother recovery and long-term joint health.

Hip
In addition to knee procedures, I also have specialist expertise in hip replacement surgery, including complex revision cases. I use the Optimised Positioning System (OPS), a technology designed to enhance accuracy in hip replacements by analysing each patient’s unique movement and anatomy. This approach allows for implants to be positioned in the most natural and effective way, helping to improve mobility, reduce complications, and extend the lifespan of the replacement.

Clinical Standards
I follow national guidance from the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Hip Society (BHS), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme. My private orthopaedic service is aligned with UK national guidance for elective hip and knee surgery. This ensures consistent, high‑quality care across pre‑operative assessment, surgical planning, intra‑operative documentation, implant selection and post‑operative rehabilitation.

Patient
A huge thank you for giving me a whole new lease of life with my knee! I am now 5 weeks post op and I keep losing my walking stick because I walk off and forget it. In fact the whole experience was so positive, kind and efficient. I’m hugely impressed!
